Marcellus Ferrell, 32, of Patterson, was apprehended on Saturday, Feb. 8, when stopped by Putnam County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Osika for a traffic violation, said the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
During the stop, Osika ran a check of the driver’s license and found that Ferrell was wanted for the hit-and-run involving serious injury or death in Connecticut, the department said.
Additionally, a check of the vehicle’s registration revealed a suspension for an insurance lapse.
Ferrell was taken into custody and transported to the Town of Carmel Justice Court where he was issued an appearance ticket for the traffic violation and then remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility to await an extradition hearing on Monday, Feb. 10.
During the hearing, Ferrell agreed to be extradited to Connecticut and currently remains in jail until picked up by the Connecticut State Police.
